Expressive arts uses different modalities (drawing, collage, music, movement, clay, writing) to express what cannot yet be fully expressed verbally. The focus is on expression and becoming a fuller human being, not on the art product. You may or may not like the art you create- there are many growth opportunities regardless. Often people are happily surprised with what it is like to move, draw, collage and express their emotions! There is a freedom there to find all the parts of yourself that have been there all along.
SPECIAL NOTE: Often "the critic" (voice of judgement that attempts to paralyze you) emerges before, during, or after art making. In expressive art, it is important to not allow the critic to paralyze your growth.
