“You must give birth to your images. They are the future waiting to be born. Fear not the strangeness you feel. The future must enter you long before it happens. Just wait for the birth, for the hour of the new clarity."

- Rainer Maria Rilke

What is SoulCollage® ?

SoulCollage® is a collage process in which you make cards for different aspects of your multifaceted Self/Soul. You make your own deck of cards - each collage card representing one aspect of you. The collage cards can then be used to answer life questions that you ask and receive an intuitive response from your own Soul. The theory in Soulcollage® is that in every person there is “the One and the many.” The “One” is the place in which you (all of your parts) are inherently whole, integrated and arise from, and the “many” are the unlimited individual aspects of your multifaceted self.

The History of SoulCollage®

Seena Frost, MFT, began the SoulCollage® process in the late 1980s. Its seeds lay in her final project for a three-year "Human Capacities" program led by Jean Houston from 1987 to 1989. Seena says, "It was a time when I was immersed in world myths and archetypal psychology, and also I was exploring various spiritual paths. I was also practicing psychotherapy in my professional practice. “ The card making process, development of the suits, and intuitive style of readings developed from Seena and the women in her therapy groups. (from SoulCollage.com)

The Suites

There are four “suites” in a deck of SoulCollage cards in addition to the three transpersonal cards (Source, Soul-essence, Witness). The suites are: Committee (personality parts-of-self), Community (beings that have a significant influence in your life), Council (archetypes), and Companions (animals). We will explore the meaning of each more in this presentation/group.

How is SoulCollage®  helpful?

SoulCollage®  can offer a way to “externalize” parts of your self in order to begin to dis-identify from this part enough to see what other parts are there (that have been being overshadowed by this part). For example, someone who has an overdeveloped “perfectionist,” “Do-er,” or “part-that-is-always-anxious” can make card images of these parts. When these parts are allowed to emerge and speak, they can loosen their grip on other parts of the self (for example “Being,” “Angry-Power-Monster,” or “Vulnerable child”) that can then emerge.  It can also be a way to tap into the innate wisdom within these parts of the self, such as the parts-that-are grieving, and bypass the critical voice. Often, in SoulCollage readings, people find profound wisdom, emotions in the body, guidance, and beauty that they have been unknowingly splitting away from. Soulcollage® can be a powerful way to discover your own wisdom and wholeness.

Soulcollage for Day of the Dead: A Workshop

Day of the Dead Offrenda

Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is a holiday with its origins from ancient rituals of pre-Hispanic Mesoamerican cultures, particularly the Aztecs, who celebrated death as part of life, and celebrated the ancestors in month long rituals. This indigenous tradition was later merged with All Souls’ Day creating the holiday that is now celebrated on November 1 and 2. In this workshop, you will make a card for your person, or your people that have crossed over. You can then have these soulcollage cards as part of your day of the dead altar, and/or in your soulcollage deck, to allow your person to continue to speak their wisdom and share their ongoing connection with you.

In this 2 hour workshop, you will make a soulcollage card for your person. Please bring a photo (smaller than 5 x 7) of them that you feel comfortable collage-ing. You can also bring images of things they liked, to include on your collage. We will discuss how to make an ofrenda (altar for day of the dead), how to be mindful of being culturally appropriate and not appropriating when celebrating Day of the Dead.

Glimmers:

A Soulcollage Workshop for the Holiday Season, where you can be merry and bright-ISH, (or not).

Friday, December 5, 1-3pm, eastern time, online

$55

In this workshop, we will explore glimmers, a term coined by Psychologist Deb Dana. Glimmers are small moments of contentment and feelings of safety (think petting your cute dog or the sound of a well-loved cat purring) that help regulate your nervous system. Glimmers can help provide sustenance during a season when feelings of grief and loss can feel overwhelming. You will make a card for one (or more) of your own personal glimmers.
